A recent provincial report on teachers has left many local educators less than impressed. Alberta Teachers Association local president Heather McCaig said that most teachers are still in disbelief of the reports findings and recommendations. Among the recommendations are that a provincial review system be established to evaluate a teachers performance that would have to be completed every 5 years in order to keep a teaching certification. McCaig says that more time spent on paperwork for evaluations means less time for lesson planning and other teaching duties. Premier Dave Hancock has said that the report should not be considered an attack on the teaching profession and that there is still room for discussion in the days and weeks ahead
