The Medicine Hat branch of the United Way has given $20,000 to the city and Red Cross emergency Preparedness Initiative. United Way spokesman Melissa Fandrick says that they don’t want residents unprepared for disaster and emergency situations. The donation will be used to help put together emergency kits and to help provide area residents with education. Fandrick says the money was left over from community donations following last year’s flood. Officials are already starting to put the emergency kits together
