An afternoon accident injured two people and caused a traffic snarl on the trans Canada Highway. Shortly after 2:30 yesterday, a Honda CRV attempted to make a left turn onto the highway from 1st Street when it was hit by a westbound pickup truck. The Medicine Hat fire department used the jaws of life to free the trapped driver of the Honda. The driver and a passenger in the SUV were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup was reportedly not injured. The collision slowed both east and westbound traffic on the highway for a period of time while emergency crews dealt with the mess. Police say that charges against the driver of the Honda are pending.
