Medicine Hat city council has voted down one proposal to add extra parking for the Event Center. At last nights meeting, Councillors quashed the idea of purchasing more land from the Box Springs Business Park and developing 400 additional parking stalls to the tune of more than 3 million dollars. The other option of developing a city owned gas well site has been set aside for the time being as council asked city staffers to look into how that project might be financed. That option was said to have a cost of $650,000. Councillor Les Pearson stated that he wouldn’t support either option until a definite need for more parking has been established. The current plans for the Event Center show 1408 stalls will be developed on the current site
