Algae bloom identified at Reesor Lake

Anyone planning to head to Reesor Lake in Cypress Hills Provincial Park is being asked to avoid the water. Alberta Health Services says they have identified Blue-green algae blooms in the lake and that is a health hazard. People who come in contact blue-green algae may experience skin irritation, rash, sore throat, sore red eyes, swollen lips, fever, nausea and vomiting and/or diarrhea. Symptoms usually appear within one to three hours and resolve in one to two days. AHS officials advise avoiding the water altogether and also say not to let your pets come in contact with or go in the lake.
