A city man convicted of child luring earlier this year has finally received his sentence. 24 year old Matthew Mayo was sentenced this week in Court of Queens Bench to time served as well as a conditional sentence. In handing down her sentence, Madam Justice Karen Horner said that Mayo did not pose a threat to the community and went on to say that the circumstances in the man’s case were mild. Horner rejected a defense motion for a conditional discharge saying that the primary focus on sentencing in cases like this is to denounce the act and to provide a deterrent. Mayo Must also provide a DNA sample and be listed on the sex offender registry for the next 10 years.
