At City Hall last night, council unanimously accepted a concept for a development of the vacant lot across from City Hall. The building called The Bridge by winning design firm CEI Architects, would consist of two five-story blocks, one each for offices and residential condos. Both buildings would have above ground shops and underground parking. Council then voted 7-2 in favor of allocated $450,000 for further design work, market analysis and seeking out a private sector developer to partner with the city. Councillors Les Pearson and Jim Turner cast the 2 no votes, arguing that the city should concentrate spending on high priority construction projects and rebuilding city reserves.
