Local candidates are geared up for the longest federal election campaign in more than 140 years. PC candidate Jim Hillyer says the longer race doesn’t mean much difference for his party as they were already in campaign mode leading up to the call. Liberal candidate Glen Allen says the campaign really will be too long and that risks voters tuning out the message from all parties. Erin Weir says it will give her more time to knock on doors as the NDP candidate for the riding. Green party candidate Brent Smith and Canadian Action Party candidate Peter Sawrie could not be reached for comment.
