Cypress County has declared a State of Agricultural Disaster. Councillors met yesterday in Dunmore, and voted for the declaration. The designation will be the first step toward accessing relief programs should they be created by either the provincial or federal governments . County officials say that the conditions in the County will need to be assessed and verified by other levels of government. The vote from County councillors comes just weeks after several northern Alberta Counties near Edmonton also declared a state of agricultural disaster. And across the border, the County of Maple Creek has also declared a similar declaration, and will be seeking help from the Saskatchewan government.
