The bone dry conditions are playing havoc on crops all across Alberta. Several Counties across Alberta have been seeing extremely low rainfall this year. Parkland county east of Edmonton, and Mackenzie County in the north east have both declared a state of agricultural disaster. And some counties around Red Deer have had to deal with swarms of grasshoppers destroying crops. Cypress County hasn’t reached the point of being in a disaster situation, but is experiencing some of the driest conditions in the province. However, Environment Canada is reporting that a substantial rainfall expected this weekend could help the situation.
