Work continues on the Medicine Hat Family Leisure Center expansion project. Media and officials from government recently toured the project that will see upwards of 100,000 square feet in space added to the facility. Among the improvements will be increased seating for swim events, a competition ready track, and a hard-court gym. A separate and expanded field-house is also being built. MP LaVar Payne said when finished the facility will be outstanding. The Federal and Provincial governments each contributed $10 million to the overall cost and the City picked up the remaining $17 million tab. The project is expected to be completed by this time next year.
