Stun guns headed for city seized

Stun guns destined for Medicine Hat were seized following a joint investigation between Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams and Canada Border Services Agency. The investigation began when CBSA officers at the International Mail Centre in Vancouver intercepted a package containing five stuns guns. The package originated in Singapore and was destined for an address in Alberta. The CBSA referred the file to ALERT who conducted a follow up investigation. Late last week police arrested 52 year old Jacobus Vermee at his Medicine Hat home, where additional prohibited weapons were seized, including a variety of edged weapons and a blow-dart gun. Vermee has beech charged with 3 counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and importing a prohibited device.
