Medicine Hat to Host 2017 Alberta Special Olympics Summer Games

One of the province’s most inspiring sports event is coming to Medicine Hat. At city hall on Monday, officials from Special Olympics Alberta were in attendance to announce that Medicine Hat will play host to the 2017 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games. More than 1,000 athletes from all across Alberta will be competing in 11 official sports. At city hall, Special Olympics Alberta President and CEO, Johnny Byrne along with local Special Olympics athletes presented the City of Medicine Hat with the Special Olympics Flag. Mayor Ted Clugston says that Hosting the Alberta Special Olympics is an opportunity to showcase the incredible spirit and amenities of our community, including the new CanAlta Centre and the expanded Family Leisure Center. The Alberta Special Olympics Summer Games will take place July 9-11, 2017.
