Another telephone fraud is making it’s way through our city. Medicine Hat Police say that a caller is phoning people and telling them he is from the city utility department and that they are behind on their utility bill. He says an immediate payment needs to be made or the power will be cut off. The caller then instructs the person to go and purchase a prepaid visa and forward the payment card details to the fraudster over the phone. Both police and city officials say the city does not conduct business this way. Anyone receiving a phone call like this is asked to contact police.
