Plans to renovate and reopen the Veiner Centre appear to be moving forward. At yesterday’s Corporate Services Committee meeting, the committee recommended that City Council approve funding for the work. Corporate Services Commissioner Brian Mastel said the total cost of the Veiner Center renovation would be around $3 million, and the plan is to restore half of the building for multi-tenant space. Mastel adds that insurance will cover the restoration and renovations of the centre, while the city’s infrastructure reserve would cover the rest. The City has been in negotiations with the several Art Clubs that are currently using space at the Cultural Center as possible new tenants for the Veiner Center.
