Another scam is making its way around Medicine Hat. Police are warning residents to be careful about unsolicited emails from someone claiming to be with Microsoft. Sergeant Stacey Keslar sasy the email informs the person that that their computer has been part of a security breach and then asks the citim to provide credit card information so the computer can be cleared. Keslar says that people should not respond at all to such emails and never to click on a link contained in them. Most banks are aware of the scam and credit card company’s will often contact cardholders if they see such a charge. Keslar advises if you have already given out information, contact your credit card company and police.
