Recent rain showers are a welcome sight for fire officials in Medicine Hat and Cypress County. The county has been under a fire advisory for a few days and officials there said that a lot of the prairie was bone dry. They caution though that while there has been a bit of rain, a return to hot, dry weather again could mean a quick return to the dangerous condition. Officials caution residents that while an outright ban isn’t in place at this time, that they need to take extra precautions with campfires or backyard fire pits. Common sense is advised to keep the fire from being too big and to completely extinguish it before walking away.
