Renewed calls to twin Highway 3

A head-on collision that claimed two lives on the weekend, including an off duty Sheriff from Medicine Hat,  has renewed calls for the twinning of Highway 3.  Councillor Jim Turner represents the city in the Highway 3 Economic Development Association, which was formed last year to lobby the government to have the twinning of Highway 3 added to the provincial budget.  Turner says the longstanding concerns are not just heavy traffic, but also high winds, large numbers of big trucks and the lack of passing lanes. Turner adds the new provincial budget has earmarked  $700 million to be spent by 2018 on twinning projects, and he hopes Highway 3 will be included.
