A man shot by police in an incident more than 2 years ago goes to trial this week in Medicine Hat court. Michael Carolan was shot by officers in September of 2013 when he exited a home on Rideau Close SE carrying more than one gun and refused to drop them. He was critically injuried in the incident and police were cleared of any wrong doing in an ASIRT investigation. Carolan is facing a dozen charges that include weapons offences and assaulting a police officer. The shooting marked the first officer involved shooting in Medicine Hat in more than 30 years. The Court of Queens Bench trial is expected to last all week.
