62 year old found guilty in sex assault trial

A jury has found a 62 year old man guilty in a historic sex assault trial. The man was accused of assaulting his daughter and sister in law in the 1970’s and 1980’s while the family lived in the Brooks area. At the time of the assaults, both women were minors. The week long trial in Medicine Hat Court of Queen’s bench heard testimony from police, the two complainants as well as the accused who took the stand in his own defense. A publication ban was issued at the start of the trial that prohibits identifying either the man or the two adult women in the case. Sentencing has been adjourned until next Thursday
