Medicine Hat School Division #76 received some good news this week. At their monthly board meeting, trustees reported an operating surplus of $1.51 million dollars for the 2014-15 school year. Interim superintendent Lyle Cunningham says surplus is more than double what was originally expected. The surplus comes after enrollment numbers jumped by 157 students from the spring into the fall, which brought in roughly a million dollars more in provincial grant funding. Cunningham says a majority of the excess money will go towards school infrastructure projects, such as the modernization of Medicine Hat High School.
