One man is dead and a home has been destroyed by fire near Brooks. Brooks RCMP and Fire department were called out to the home northeast of the city around 9:00 Wednesday morning. When they arrived, the house was engulfed in flames and they also found a pick up truck had crashed into the house. Investigators say the fire appears to be caused when the pick up crashed into the house. 70 year old Lamertus Van Oirschot was found dead in the truck. He was the home owner and lived alone on this property. Police are continuing to investigate and are awaiting autopsy results.
