The Downtown 2nd Street Revitalization Project continues to make progress. The recent 2nd street and 6th avenue intersection opening has alleviated some traffic detour and headaches for motorists. Now work is focusing on the stretch of road between 4th and 5th Avenues. Environmental Utilities general manager Grayson Mauch says that crews will focus on vacuuming out the primary water source for businesses in the area. Those businesses are currently getting water pumped from several blocks away. While the project should have the road open by the middle of next month, aesthetic work will most likely be done next spring.
