Medicine Hat city council has voted to extend Medicine Hat Transit service to the Northwest. The new route will begin in November, and will service the Canalta Centre, Box Springs as well as industrial areas in Brier Park. The new route, running from shopping centres in the southeast to the northwest will operate on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Transit planners now say the development of the business park means the expansion on the route is needed. However, the transit service will not be servicing the Canalta Centre for evening events like hockey games. But officials say if the needs arises, the transit hours could be extended. The new bus route will be on a six month trial, and could eventually be extended to the Town of Redcliff.
