Flood mitigation work continues in the Lions Park area and it will now affect users of the old Arena and YMCA. City of Medicine Hat officials say that beginning this morning, River Road access to both facilities will be closed so that crews can construct a concrete footing for a removable flood barrier. The removable flood barrier is just a small part of the overall Lions Park Overland Flow Protection Strategy. The closure is expected to be in place for the next five to six weeks. Access to this area is still available from 2nd Street SE. Officials ask the public to obey all construction signs for the duration of the project.
