The Alberta Legislature will have the NDP’s Bob Wanner representing the Medicine Hat Riding in the next government. Wanner beat out Val Olson of the Wildrose party by less than 400 votes to win the right to represent Medicine Hat. Incumbent PC Blake Pedersen conceded the race early in the evening after garnering only 20 percent of the vote. Meanwhile the race in the Cypress-Medicine Hat riding was won by incumbent MLA Drew Barnes who will return to the legislature for a second term after outdistancing the PC’s Bob Olson by more than 35 percent of the vote.
