Oyen RCMP have arrested a mother and daughter on animal cruelty charges. Just before the weekend, officers executed a search warrant at a rural property just south of the village of Cereal. Police located 11 horses, 25 dogs and 17 birds that were in distress. With the assistance of the Alberta SPCA, all animals were seized, examined by vets and relocated. The mother and daughter have both been charged with Cruelty to Animals, Wilful Neglect of Animals , Possession of Stolen Property and failing to comply with release conditions on Animal Cruelty Charges from British Columbia. The pair will appear in Hanna Provincial Court in October.
