City Council has decided to close the road running through Lions Park. City officials had recommended that the road needed to be closed to make way for the permanent berm running through Lions Park. However, City Council wanted to get input from area residents first. And Monday night, Council voted 6 to 3 in favor of closing the road. Councillor Robert Dumanowski was one who voted in favor of the closure, and says the move will not only save the city a quarter of a million dollars, but will create more actual park space. Parking lots will be built at the end of both Minto Avenue and Second Street SE for easier access and more parking. Mayor Ted Clugston voted against closing the road , saying the residents he talked to wanted a connector street.
