December utility rates on the rise


Your utility bill is about to take a big jump. Medicine Hat homeowners are facing increases for both natural gas and electricity this month. The city announced that the December gas rate would be climbing to $4.19 per gigajoule, up from November’s $3.60. Electricity is also going up this month, in time for all the Christmas lights to be plugged in. It will cost you 7.36 cents per kilowatt hour which is up from last months 6.54 cents. The electric rate is among the lowest being charged consumer across the province but the gas rate for December is among the highest.
