Progressive Conservative party supporters locally have chosen Jim Hillyer as their next candidate. Hillyer was confirmed after three days of voting across the expanded Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner riding last week that culminated with the vote in Medicine Hat on Saturday. Hillyer is the current Lethbridge MP and will remain there until the next election. He will replace Medicine Hat MP LaVar Payne as the next PC candidate following Payne’s announcement in July that he would not seek re-election. Hillyer says he won’t waste time getting to know people in the new riding. He defeated former riding president Dan Hein for the nomination
