Plans for the permanent berms in Medicine Hat were discussed at the recent Development and Infrastructure committee meeting. The first look sees the berms being built to with stand river flows equal to last year and will be able to hold back flood waters of more than 6000 cubic meters per second. Committee Chair Councilor Robert Dumanowski said that area residents, especially those in Harlow and near Lions Park will see earth starting to be moved very soon. The plan for those areas is to have those berms begin construction shortly with them being completed by this time next year.
