Man headed to jail for domestic violence

A Medicine Hat man will be spending a year behind bars for terrorizing his former common law spouse and child. 40 year old Gerald Mohr was arrested following a domestic dispute in 2012 that saw the woman and child flee from their home barefoot after Mohr was swinging a bat around and threatened to cut off the cat’s head. Mohr’s behavior in court saw him removed and then reappear by CCTV from the remand center. Justice Marsha Erb in passing sentence, called the his behavior appalling and quite disturbing. Mohr was sentenced to one year in jail that will be served consecutively to a 5 year sentence the he was given for assaulting his lawyer last year. He will also serve 18 months probation during which time he can not contact his former spouse.
