Court hearing for cops charged with assault

Three Medicine Hat Police officers charged with assault are appearing in court for a preliminary hearing. David Hyrcyk, Marc Seiller and Robert Angstadt were charged last year following an Alberta Serious Incident Response Team investigation into a citizen complaint. The complaint stemmed from an August 2012 incident at a local establishment. A publication ban is in place for all evidence presented at the hearing. During yesterday’s proceedings, 4 witnesses offered testimony. A preliminary hearing is held to establish if there is enough evidence to go to trial in Court of Queen’s bench. The hearing resumes this morning and is scheduled to wrap up on Friday.
