Oakes to be sentenced today

One of the women found guilty of killing 47 year old Casey Armstrong will learn her fate today. Connie Jean Oakes was found guilty in November for her participation in the killing. During the trial court heard that Armstrong died as the result of two fatal stab wounds to the neck. Oakes Sentencing has been delayed twice before as a result of the province not being able to complete the proper pre-sentencing reports that account for those with aboriginal backgrounds. The sentencing hearing is expected to begin later this morning in Medicine Hat Court of Queen’s Bench.
