There won’t be extra parking added at the currently in construction events center. Medicine Hat City council last night narrowly voted down a proposal that would have seen an additional 200 parking stalls added at a cost of $650,000. Councillor Julie Friesen in voting to support the motion said the biggest complaint heard all the time is why didn’t they do it right the first time. Councillor Bill Cocks voted against the proposal saying that the problem hasn’t manifested itself and is better dealt with at a more appropriate time later. Following the debate the vote showed 5 councillors against and 4 councillors voting for the proposal. The current event center plans call for just over 1400 parking spaces when it opens in the fall of 2015
